VIDEO: Tech barriers shattered, time to build community

“This is the first seastead that is now viable to be put in international waters.”

Grant Romundt, CEO of Ocean Builders, is creating something so awesome that you will never want to go back to land. He showed the attendees of the Liberty in our Lifetime Conference in Prague in November of 2024 his SeaPod home, anchored off the coast of Panama.

“Each of these we put in the water becomes a habitat for life.”

Five and a half years ago, Grant could only explain his vision by creating hundreds of digital renders. Now, he has been living in his dream home and can share photographs and videos of real homes floating in the water.

“It’s so stable, you don’t know you’re on a home that’s totally floating.”

In his presentation, he also showed video and images of the Alpha Deep model, floating a few kilometers off shore. The Alpha Deep is equipped with features that will remind you of James Bond– a Jet Ski lift to make travel between seapods more convenient, a rainwater system that provides drinking water, and an underwater room where the fish come to look at you.

“All the technological barriers have been shattered. We have all the technology we need to make this happen.”

Grant shared that he gets regular visits from a dolphin pod while he meditates enjoying his 360° ocean view. Watch the full presentation here:

Next step is a wild legal frontier. Seasteads remain undefined in international law, and our nonprofit needs to bypass governments and negotiate directly with the businesses that flag vessels on behalf of all seasteaders everywhere.
