This post is being written to supplement our announcement of the First Annual Ephemerisle Festival. Some people may wonder why Ephemerisle is an important initiative for seasteading, and why it is worth devoting some of our limited resources to.
The Seasteading Institute is excited to announce that public registration is open for the first annual Ephemerisle Festival, being held October 2-4, 2009 in the Sacramento River Delta. Ephemerisle is a floating festival of politics, community, and art in celebration of political freedom and diversity.

The Story
A man-made city at sea called the Ark, made up of hundreds of separate islands, is on the brink of all-out civil war. Originally built as an experimental self-sufficient and 100% “green” habitat, the reported rapid rise of the Earth’s oceans has forced the Ark to become a refuge for humanity.
As requested by several community members, TSI is pleased to offer the opportunity to donate directly to specific projects, each of which will help us answer an important open question about how best to make seasteading a reality.
