This year saw many steps forward for the seasteading movement. We added three new organizations to our Active Projects page:
- FlexBase, co-founded by long-time seasteader Shiwen Yap, is based in Singapore and the Netherlands. The Seasteading Institute’s co-founder Patri Friedman has created an angel investment syndicate for investing in Very Large Floating Structures, and FlexBase is one of the projects he’s funding. You can read more about FlexBase in a Q&A that Joe Quirk did with Shiwen on our blog.
- ArkTide, based in Florida, is actively developing new designs and modular structures for safety and affordability for individuals and businesses moving to the seas. They are also a contestant in the $100M Carbon Removal XPRIZE competition. Get in touch with Arktide on their website.
- Atlas Island was formed by a few of our Ambassadors with a three-stage plan to build a community based on the non-aggression principle and the idea of self-ownership. Read more about their principles and join their community at their website.
Finally, congratulations to Ocean Builders for winning the Radical Innovation Award! Thank you to everyone who voted. It’s a huge win for Ocean Builders and for the seasteading community as a whole!
