A crucial part of our political realism is modesty in our goals. We won't start out demanding recognition from other nations, acceptance of our passports, or a seat in the UN. We'll asl only to be left alone to experiment with our pioneering lifestyle in peace. Frankly, we think its absurd for projects in the planning stage to focus significant effort on these matters. Its like an american pioneering family who are planning their move west to an unsettled region thinking about how to get formal recognition as a state, when they should be worrying about cabins, crops, and packing their Conestoga wagon. The trappings of statehood can come later (if ever) when it is obvious that a group of seasteads qualifies as a country by any reasonable definition.

more important than spelling mistakes is your basic philosophical one ---being left alone MEANS being sovereign, you dolts! That is what the word MEANS!!!

Yes, however, if they were to demand that their sovereignty be recodnised, they'll cause an unwelcome commotion, while if they start more slowly, as a commercial venture, keeping their autonamy at least somewhat inconspicuos, they can wait until everyone is comfortable before waving a flag around. It's a good way to keep out of world politics, which is one of the reasons many people will want to seastead. Also, if you demand sovereignty right away, then peopple might think that seasteading requires soverignty, or even that there's one big seastead country that all seasteaders have to join. Waiting will probably decerease the chances of such rumors being popularly beleived.

Since it appeers that onlee we commenters are reeding the comments, aisle reply to you, MDude. I honestly dont know what u feer concerning rumours etc, butt as far as the main point re autonamy: My point is that hoping to remain inconspicuos is absurd in this modern info age whirled ---the minute u do ANYTHING the least little bit autonamous, the US navy will send a flotilla instantly weather you have formally declared sovereignity or not...
