We'd like to start by thanking you for your interest. In order to make the tough transition from dream to reality, the seasteading movement needs supporters. People who understand that talk is cheap, that it takes a lot of time, effort, and money to create a new way of living, but still agree that it will ultimately be worthwhile. If you are a realistic visionary like ourselves, hard-headed and open-minded, we'd love to have you participate.

I'm the anonymous poster leaving timestamps this night. I'll participate if I successfully acquire the investment capital in a few years, otherwise you probably wont hear from me because I don't have much to offer. I like your visionary approach - i'm sure you'll eventually find someone willing to fund it in some ruthlessly capitalistic exploitive approach, but i'm hoping I would be closer to an angel however.

I of course would have my own interests and plans of what I would want to do with a seastead (sociopolitical experimentations which may or may not be entirely compatible), but the beauty is that there can be multiple seasteads. :) And they can also travel together, separate when needed, remain allied with mutual assistance, etc.

I'll bookmark this site and check back every once in awhile, until then i'll remain an anonymous reader.

We're hoping to have a system (using timeshares) whereby participation can scale with available capital.

As you say, one of the great things about our scheme is that eventually there can be lots of different types of experimentation on different seasteads.

What a neat concept... glad I stumbled upon this page. I think it's a solid setup. I'd love to me involved in any way I can. Don't know if you're looking to "recruit" anyone. But I'd like to through may hat of computer skills into the ring, if anyone is interested.

It's a shame that all of these other "nation" concepts are little more than pipe dreams ("prince" this and "princess" that.) I applaud seeing things on a grander scheme. To each his/her own, I suppose.

I am very interested in this whole project. I would like to help, and someday, maybe own my own Seastead. How big do you envision the final Seastead module to be? Do you have any estimates on cost for that? I would greatly appreciate contact by email.

Thanks,

Trey

You need money... It's as simple as that...
Generate it through channels that the mass knows and likes: Games....
Engineer a simulationgame like Sim City! Sim Seastead! Let people "build" their own habitat, let them tow it out and connect via internet to habitats of others! Virtual as it is it might shed different lights on the complexities and problems (i like the term challenge more) that are still to be encountered and solved.
One of them of course being defence as these habitats will be targets to piracy and other crime because being the souvereign units as invisioned they will also be freehavens to crime...

I wish you the very best and will keep visiting your site!

What i forgot to bring up is that this game can create awareness. This can even be enhanced by starting an internetforum where the gamers but also interested others can exchange ideas! Let the internet connect those gamers and interested to you for ideas and funds!

I'VE BEEN INTERESTED IN BUILDING AN ARTIFICIAL ISLAND FOR SOME TIME NOW AND THIS WEB PAGE IS THE BEST SO FAR IN COVERING ALL THE ASPECTS OF THIS ENDEAVOR.I THINK THAT BEYOND THE "HOW","WHERE","HOW MUCH?" OR "WHEN" IS A MATTER OF "WHY".WHY ALL YOU WHO POSTED COMMENTS HERE ARE INTERESTED?WHY ANYBODY LEAVE THE COMFORT(OR DISCOMFORT:-))OF THEIR EXISTENCE AND EMBARK ON SUCH A VISIONARY PROJECT?I DONT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS,...BUT I THINK THAT DEEP DOWN HAS TO DO WITH DISSATISFACTION...AND THEN,FROM THERE ON ,IT GOES TO BELIF THAT WE CAN DO "THINKS" BETTER,AND WE CAN PROVE IT BY BUILDING A SEASTEAD,OR AN ISLAND,...CALL AS YOU WILL,WHERE WE DO THINGS DIFFERENTLLY IN A MORE HUMANE WAY,ON A MORE ELEVATED LEVEL OF CONSCIOUSNESS.NOW,CAN THIS BE DONE?HELL YEAH!ISAAC ASIMOV WROTE "WE CAN DO EVERYTHING BECAUSE WE CAN IMAGINE EVERYTHING".BUT COMING DOWN TO EARTH,IT BOILS DOWN TO MONEY.ACTUALLY NOT TO MUCH MONEY,YET.I BELIVE THAT FIRST, ITS ABOUT UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THE PROJECT IS,...WHITH A DESIGN,A SCALE MODEL,THEN AN ESTIMATE,THEN THE SDC INC., AND SO ON.THAT,MY FRIENDS,INVOLVES PARTICIPATION FROM ALL INTERESTED.I MEAN INTELECTUAL AND FINANCIAL.ALSO BETTER NETWORKING OF ALL THE INTERESTED PARTIES.FOR EXAMPLE $20/WEEK X 10 PEOPLE WOULD BE SUFFICIENT TO FINALIZE A CONCEPTUAL BLUE PRINT AND A MEETING OF ALL INVOLVED IN FEW MONTH FROM NOW ON, WERE WE CAN SIT DOWN, KNOWN EACH OTHER,EXCHANGE IDEAS AND MOVE FOWARD.WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

NO, thank YOU for being the first people ever that I agree with. Minimal centralization and maximal portability has grown to be what I consider the recipe for near utopia - or at least as close as we'll get given the constraints of the human and international conditions. I love your style, and I tip my hat to you for actually doing your homework. If your ever find yourself in need of a biochemist, I am at your service.
