Donations
First, thanks for coming here, and having the vision and enthusiasm to consider helping us in our ambitious mission to transform the world. The engineering and research challenges involved in accomplishing our mission are significant, and we need your help to put the organization on a secure financial footing for the future. Before donating, please read these caveats:
- Although The Seasteading Institute hopes and expects to receive recognition of its 501(c)3 status from the IRS, we currently cannot guarantee the tax deductibility of any donations. If we do receive recognition of our non-profit status, most donations will be tax deductible to the full extent of the law, and if we have an email address for you we will notify you of this event. We recommend that you contact a tax advisor to determine your particular tax situation.
- We are working to create a membership program, with various levels and schwag (t-shirts, glass/aquarium-sized seastead models, etc.), but it is still in development. In the event that we do create such a program, your donations will count towards membership dues for the first year, and we will notify you by email of any schwag you are entitled to.
- You can mark your donation as public or private. Public donations will be listed on this page (as you can see below). Private donations will be counted in aggregate statistics only.
Thanks again for your generosity. If you have any questions, or are interested in making a more substantial contribution than our donation system allows, or a more complicated one (like appreciated stock), please contact dev@seastead.org.
